You can export maps to your PocketPC so that you can use them directly in Tracky. The export includes the map picture as well as the so called map calibration file. This implies that you no longer have to calibrate your maps manually, the maps will automatically show-up at the right place and with the right scaling!
The Exporter is designed for Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) and does not work in other browsers.
Before you start the export, you first need to pan/zoom the visible map until it is positioned properly. Now hit the Export button. A dialogue will appear asking you the destination for the map and map calibration file. Next, copy both files to your PocketPC, i.e., in one of the (configurable) data folders of Tracky (by default Program files/Tracky/data/). You can repeat the process and put multiple maps in the data folder. Now restart Tracky, and you will your maps.
The export function relies on an ActiveX control which will be install automatically.
Once installed, the following picture will be visible next to the Export button:
If this picture is not visible, you maybe have seen a warning at the top of your browser window or by a message like (this is not always the case):
Two approaches exist to install the required ActiveX control: you can (A) manually install it, or (B) install it via your browser.
1) Download the file http://www.trackthisout.com/export.cab
2) A window will pop-up that allows to 'open' or 'save' the file, make sure to select 'open'
3) Unzip the file and choose as destination folder 'C:\WINDOWS\'
4) Now start a windows explorer and browse to the file 'C:\WINDOWS\Export.inf'
5) Right-click this file and choose 'install'
6) You probably get warned about some new files which will get overwritten by old ones… in this case choose 'no'.
The exporter feature should work fine now.
You need to change your security setting in your Internet Explorer such that this ActiveX control will be installed. Do this as follows:
1) Go to menu Extra (for IE6) or Tools (for IE7), then Internet options, and select tab Security.
2) Select Internet and press button Custom level (for IE6) or Advanced (for IE7).
3) Enable Download unsigned ActiveX controls, and press Ok.
4) Now restart your browser and try again.
5) In your next attempt, a bar will pop-up at the top of the window which warns you that
the installation of some ActiveX control has been paused.
6) Right-click this bar and choose Install ActiveX control.
The exporter feature should work fine now.
You can (optionally) put back this security option since the ActiveX control remains installed.
